Lincoln is a magnificent city
dating back to Roman times when it was known by
the Romans as Lindum Colonia.
It is perhaps best known these days for its world famous medieval castle
and cathedral, which dominate the skyline in the lower, more modern parts of the city.
At Christmas time, people travel from all over the
country to visit the "Christmas Market" which is
held between the castle and cathedral at the top
of "steep hill" (for anyone who has ever walked
up "steep hill" you will know this is
a name which fits perfectly).
More recently the city is gaining an excellent reputation
for its ever expanding University which together
with a diverse range of restaurants, shops and other
leisure facilities (such as theatres, galleries,
cinemas, golf courses etc.) all make Lincoln the
perfect place to visit whether it be to work rest
or play. |
